Objectives, T he porpose of this study was to measure the effectiveness of resource mothers in reducing adverse consequences of maternal phenylketomona. Methods Ninete pregnamcies in th e resource mothers group were compared W ith 64 pregnancies in phenyike tormric women without resource mothcrs, Weeks to metabolie control and ofispong outcome were mensuted Res ults Mean nom ber of weeks to metabolic control was 8.3 (SE 2.2) in the resource mothers group, as compared with 16. 1 (SE (1.7) in the com parison group, Infants of women in the resource methers group was larger birth head circurnferences and higher developmental quotients. Conclusions. The resource methers program deseribed nere improves metabolic control in pregnant women with phenylketonuria.
