Résumé : | The Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study, established 22 years ago, is cross-national research conducted by an international network of research teams in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe. Its aim is to gain new insight into and to increase understanding of young people's health, well-being, health behaviour and social context. Researchers from three countries started the HBSC study in 1982 since then, a growing number of countries and regions has joined the study network. The study considers young people's health in its broadest sense - physical, social and emotional wellbeing, not merely the absence of disease - thus, health is viewed as a resource for everyday living. HBSC is unique because, in addition to monitoring the health and health behaviour of young people over time and across countries, it encompasses the wider context of health. This includes investigating family, school, and peer settings, and the socioeconomic environment in which young people grow up, to understand what factors shape and influence their health and health behaviour. |
