Résumé :
|
As life expectancy in many settings rises to unprecedented levels, comparative health assessements based solely on mortality rates, more than ever before, paint an inadequate picture of population health. At the same time, societies are directing susbtantial resources towards the promotion of healthier life, in addition to the prevention of premature death. But how effective have these efforts been ? What is the appropriate metric for quantifying healthy life expectancy, or for identifying those diseases, injuries ans risk factors that claim the largest numbers of potential years of healthy life ?
