Résumé :
|
The WHO regional office is coordinating a comprehensive programme to control and prevent exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and to assess the possible health risks, especially to infants, associated with breast-milk contaminated with the toxic chemicals. Nuemous international activities and studies have been implanted to provide advice on measures to minimize occupational and environmental exposure. Repeated international studies have determined the exposure levels u=in numerous countries and areas, providing the basis on which practical measures for exposure prevention have been developed. To improve reliability and comparability of analytical data from research laboratories, WHO has coordinated interlaboratory quality assessment studies with the participation of most of the laboratories capable of performing these analyses. This document summarize the results of the second round of studies. (R.A.)
