Résumé :

[BDSP. Notice produite par INIST FELR0xX6. Diffusion soumise à autorisation]. At present traditional STD as gonorrhoea and syphilis are rare. The declining trend was seen before safe sex practice was generalized. Correct diagnosis and adequate therapy have influenced the decrease. The majority of new acquired STD's are viral infections : herpes genitalis and condylomata accuminata. There is no curative therapy and safe sex offers not sufficient protection for transmission. In addition the exact contagious pathways are not enough understood to develop a preventive strategy. In 10 to 15 years the incidence of chlamydia decreased dramatically. This is the result of safe sex practice in adolescents and young adults, combined with generalized case finding and treatment. In the next years selected screening programs can further enhance this declining trend.
