Patients with human papillomavirus (HPV) - associated anogenital cancers had a 4.3-fold Increased risk of tonsillar squamous-cell carcinoma. These cancer types also have histopathological and molecular biological similarities. Thus HPV may be aetiologically important in tonsillar carcinogenesis. |
