Company strategy involves the assessment of the degree of consensus and dissension between different experts about a well-defined problem. They may be in-house or outside specialists. the purpose may be an assessment of the state of the art or a projection of this state of the art five or ten years into the future (prospective assessment). The problem underlying the assessment is carefully analyzed and formalized. A card of the problem is created, based on a vote procedure coloured in a matrix configuration (Abaque de Régnier), before the exchange between the participants. This vote, prior to the deliberation is decisive, since the use of colour frees the intuitive and creative forces. In addition, dissension (provided that it can be managed), often reveals the seeds of the future. It is easier to measure than to assess. This paper, using real and recent examples, tries to illustrate how the aggregation of individual preferences may be used to facilitate assessment. (Résumé d'auteur).
